Kloey + Sage’s desert engagement session at the Arches National Park in Moab Utah was an absolute DREAM to photograph. Here’s how it happened.
Back in March of 2022, my sister and I planned a big road trip from Portland, Oregon to Chicago, Illinois. At the very beginning of the planning process I knew we had to work out a way to drive through the Utah Canyonlands (because how could you NOT). And you know me and my photog brain – I just had to plan a shoot there. And I knew of the perfect couple to photograph!
Kloey and Sage were in the process of planning their dreamy destination Oregon elopement all the way from their home in Utah, and were looking for a local photographer to document it (it was an instant HELL YES from me). I normally meet up with my couples for an engagement shoot before their big day, but since we lived 800 miles apart we figured we’ll just have to wait til the week of their elopement to meet in person. But as soon as I knew we’d be passing through Utah, I texted Kloey about a spontaneous engagement session in the Canyonlands in Moab. The enthusiasm, excitement, and instant YES from both of them absolutely made my day.
The national park even rewarded us with zero crowds, epic Utah colors, and the most whimsical golden hour sunset! We stopped and explored the Garden of Eden, Window Arch, Turret Arch, and then finished off our time checking out the Double Arch and Cove of Caves as the sun dipped below the horizon.
To this day I’m so grateful for these two, their contagious joy, and the chance to explore and photograph their story in the Canyonlands!
