The camera (and hey me too!) looooves those muted, dark, or autumnal tones on anyone! Not only does it compliment almost any environment (especiallyyyy in the PNW), but it also draws the attention to the part of the photo we all want to see: ya uber cute face + personality!
Solid colors are the easiest to work with, but subtle patterns + textures are another great addition to your outfit that’ll add some variety + personality! Buuut be careful with the difference between a great, non-distracting pattern and a wonky, distracting one.

From my experience, the main pattern I try to avoid is thin stripes, vertical or horizontal. While it looks amazing in person, it tends to photograph kinda strange, almost like an optical illusion kind of effect, and it’s mega difficult to fix in editing. Try to stick to more simple patterns + textures like floral prints, knitted shirts/sweaters, denim jackets and stuff like that work great!

Simple props + objects are another amazing way to help tell more of your story + add personality to your shoot! Not to mention it’s wayyy easier to feel relaxed + natural when you’re holding something like a bouquet or instrument. Flowers, textured/patterned blankets, hats, favorite coffee mug, heck your doggo are a couple great ideas! Feel free to get creative + bring something that speaks to your story + who you are in this season!
